About the World Health Assembly 

The 71st Session of the World Health Organization's (WHO) World Health Assembly (WHA) will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from 21 to 26 May 2018. The WHA is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget.

With the 3rd UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs schedulde for 2018, this will be an important milestone in the lead up to the UN General Assembly, and the Agenda will include items, discussions and side events relating to NCDs and preparations for the Summit.

Health for All Challenge

Sunday 20 March, 10:30-1pm

As part of celebrations of the World Health Organization’s 70th anniversary in 2018, WHO is staging a major health promotion event in Geneva on the eve of the 71st World Health Assembly.
 
The free walk/run event, titled Walk the Talk: The Health for All Challenge, will be open to people of all ages and abilities and be held over three distances (short 3 kilometres, medium 5 kilometres and long 8 kilometres). These connected routes will build a bridge between “international” and “local” Geneva and Lac Leman by linking key health, international and touristic landmarks found in the city.
 
NCD Alliance and partners will have a booth at the Place de Nations, is convening a team to promote ENOUGH, with the theme 'Together we are stronger, together we can beat NCDs' - contact us for more information and to join us.
