In this symposium, being held as we approach the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Ending AIDS, taking place in New York in June 2016, the changing patterns of morbidity and mortality among people living with HIV will be described, and the interactions between HIV, antiretroviral medication and noncommunicable diseases and the medications used to treat them will be explored.
Furthermore, the evidence for programmes to improve life expectancy and quality of life among people living with HIV will be examined, as will the benefits of unifying HIV and noncommunicable disease services in a range of geographic, political and epidemiological settings.
