The NCD Alliance invites the global NCD movement to join the webinar “Protecting Populations, Preserving Futures: Optimising the health workforce to combat NCDs and achieve UHC” that will be held on
Thursday 31 October 2019 from 3pm - 4:30pm CET // 10am - 11:30am EDT through GoToWebinar.
Human resources for health can be a lever for health system change, and achieving an optimised health workforce will help to both deliver on the NCD targets enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals and attain universal health coverage (UHC). However, there remain numerous challenges and barriers impeding the recruitment, training, and retention of a health workforce capable of responding to the NCD burden. According to the World Health Organization, the global community must address a shortfall of an estimated 18 million health workers in order to attain UHC commitments.
This webinar will focus on the recently launched report on optimising the health workforce to combat NCDs and achieve UHC, and will feature three evidence-based approaches with presentations by the American College of Cardiology, The George Institute for Global Health and FDI World Dental Federation.
