This year’s WHA will convene decision-makers and stakeholders online and the agenda is shortened to just one day with a focus on covid-19 response. The NCD Alliance will organise on 15 May a civil society briefing with its members to learn about the agenda of WHA73 and proposed Resolution on the covid-19 response, which includes recognition of the impacts on people living with NCDs. The Resolution will ask governments, supported by WHO, to develop national response plans to covid-19, including health systems strengthening and undisrupted provision of essential health services for people living with NCDs and mental health conditions. The multisectoral national action plans are to be developed with a whole-of-society approach. A workshop session will explore this key opportunity for PLWNCDs, communities and civil society to be meaningfully engaged in decision-making and development of response plans.
An invitation with registration link has been sent to NCDA members and NGO supporters, and can be accessed at anytime on 'My NCDA Hub [1]'. Access to this briefing can only be guaranteed to NCDA members (full and associate) and NGO supporters - each member/supporter can register two participants per organisation.
If your organisation is not a member of NCDA yet, and you wish to participate, please contact us at [email protected] [2]. Learn more about NCDA membership here [3].
