Member States are meeting at UN Headquarters this week for the third session [1]of intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 development agenda. The theme this week is “sustainable development goals and targets.” The programme for the session included a presentation and general discussion of the provisional list of indicators for SDGs [2], proposed technical revisions [3] to a small number of targets, and ways forward to agree the final agenda in time for the UN Summit in September [4].
Overall, Member States are unanimous in their desire not to disrupt the balance of the SDGs and targets [5] with any significant changes, which would leave the current proposed framework intact. However, questions remain if and how any targets will be refined, and to what extent indicators will be a part of the final framework.
