The role is designed to provide additional support to the implementation of NCDA’s communications strategy. The intern will play an integral part of the growing communication efforts by taking on important responsibilities to enhance NCDA’s external communications operation.

More than 600 events in over 100 countries marked the celebration of World Cancer Day yesterday. This year's theme, "Not Beyond Us" highlighted existing solutions across the continuum of cancer that are within our reach to help diminish the global burden of disease.

On World Cancer Day 2015, leading global public health experts from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) announce that millions of lives can be saved through affordable increases in the investment into cancer services throughout the world. 

Member States are meeting in Geneva this week for the 136th Session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board.

The 53rd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSOcD53) will take place from 4 – 13 February 2015 at UN Headquarters in New York. The theme for the session and for the Commission’s policy cycle 2015-2016 is “Rethinking and strengthening social development in the contemporary world.”

The first intergovernmental session on the post-2015 development agenda took place earlier this week at UN Headquarters in New York. Under the theme "stocktaking", Member States were invited to provide their reflections on the post-2015 process so far, and lay broad expectations for the process ahead and for the entire post-2015 agenda, including the proposed sustainable development goals and targets.

This briefing note provides background and key advocacy messages on the NCD Alliance’s main priorities for the upcoming WHO Executive Board, including accountability for commitments made in the 2011 UN Political Declaration and 2014 Outcome Document, the Global Coordination Mechanism for NCDs, the 2nd International Conference on Nutrition, and WHO Framework of engagement with non-state actors.

"We have global NCD commitments, targets and a plan in place. Now we need to focus our attention on how governments can be held accountable for the commitments made, and what role non-state actors have in this endeavour", said Katie Dain, Executive Director of the NCD Alliance speaking yesterday at the launch of the WHO Global Status Report on NCDs.
