Population Reference Bureau launches report on Noncommunicable Diseases in Latin America and the Caribbean: Youth Are Key to Prevention

The recently released report document the prevalence of NCDs in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, especially among the youth.

Some of the key findings include:

  • Deaths from NCDs occur at earlier ages in particular for ment
  • The regions have some of the world's highest prevalence of overweight and obesity
  • Lowered prevalence rate of smoking amongst youth and adolescents but still higher rates of smoking for women than men
