UN General Assembly adopts resolution on Universal Health Coverage

The Global Health and Foreign Policy resolution on the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) was unanimously agreed.

Few countries specified the importance of UHC for the prevention and control of NCDs. The USA specifically mentioned strong support for equal access to care based on the principles of Affordable Care Act and challlenges related to access to medicines.

Uganda NCD Alliance hosts a Patient Empowerment Day in Kampala

On December 15th, the Uganda NCD Alliance organized an Patient Empowerment Day, where all the countries top NCD doctors, educators, screeners and counsellors travelled into a rurual community on the outskirts of Kampala to provide a comprehensive set of integrated NCD services for members of the community. 

They hope to continue to organize them on a monthly basis across rural communities in Uganda and serve as an inspiration for other National NCD Alliances.

ADI, IDF and NCDA Submissions to the WHO Consultation on the draft Global Mental Health Action Plan

At this year's WHA, the WHO was tasked to begin consultations on the development of  Global Mental Health Action from 2013-2020.

They developed a 'zero draft' and invited Member States, other organizations and associates to comment by October 19th. NCDA submitted comments highlighting the links between mental health and NCDs and the need for a comprehensive approach to each.
