UN Climate Change Conference (COP 30)

The 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) will take place in Belém, in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, marking a historic moment as the first COP hosted in the Amazon region.

This year’s conference comes at a critical juncture for global climate action, with increasing recognition of the urgent links between climate change and health, particularly the impact of environmental stressors on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

As governments, civil society, and global institutions gather to negotiate and accelerate progress on climate goals, COP30 will provide a key platform to:

• Advocate for health as a climate issue, including the rising burden of climate-related NCDs
• Promote resilient, sustainable health systems in the face of climate threats
• Elevate the voices of vulnerable and frontline communities, including those facing overlapping climate and health inequities
