NCD Alliance calls for protection of civilians and respect for International Humanitarian Law amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East

NCDA joins the World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other humanitarian actors, in urging all parties to protect civilian populations and fully respect International Humanitarian Law.

Civilians and civilian infrastructure, including health facilities, must be safeguarded at all times. Access to essential health services must be maintained, including the uninterrupted provision of care and medicines for people living with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.  

Humanitarian organisations and health professionals must be granted safe and unimpeded access to deliver assistance.

We call for restraint, de-escalation, and renewed diplomatic efforts to protect lives, preserve human dignity, and safeguard health, standing in solidarity with NCDA members throughout the region.
