NCDA welcomes the significant progress being made on tobacco control outlined in the WHO´s new report while recognising there is still a long way to go to reduce tobacco-related illnesses and mortality globally.
Ghana has lifted the cap on the National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL), boosting domestic health funding—especially for NCDs. Championed by the GhNCDA, this aims to lower out-of-pocket expenses, address NCD care gaps, and support equitable health financing.
In a major public health victory, Pakistan officially adopted a comprehensive national standard that limits industrially produced trans fats (iTFAs) to less than 2% of total fat across all food products. Passed by the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) in March 2025, the regulation aligns the country with the World Health Organization's (WHO) best-practice guidelines for eliminating harmful trans fats from the food supply.
On 2 May NCD Alliance (NCDA) and its members from across the globe leveraged the critical platform of the Multistakeholder Hearing on NCDs and Mental Health (MSH) to raise their voices loud and clear — collectively, we delivered The Call to Lead sign-on letter, which is backed by more than 2.5 million voices from over 115 countries!
Thanks to relentless efforts to respond to the NCD emergency, governments worldwide are making progress in addressing NCDs, but challenges continue rising globally.
With WHA78 underway and the HLM4 in September fast approaching, the message from Geneva is clear: it’s time to move beyond declarations and toward delivery — grounded in solidarity, hope and a plan.
