World AIDS Day is observed annually on 1 December, bringing governments, communities and partners together to reaffirm political commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat.
Continued progress will depend on sustained financing, equitable access to prevention, testing, treatment and care, and stronger health systems that can respond to people’s needs across the life course.
As people living with HIV live longer, noncommunicable diseases are an increasingly important part of the health response. Integrating HIV and NCD prevention, diagnosis and care can improve continuity of care, strengthen primary health care and help advance universal health coverage.
World AIDS Day 2026 is an opportunity to advocate for health policies and investments that break down disease silos and deliver accessible, equitable and person-centred services for all.
