About Alliance des Organisations de lutte contre les Maladies Non-Transmissibles de Côte d'Ivoire (AOMNT-CI)
The Alliance des Organisations de lutte contre les Maladies Non-Transmissibles de Côte d'Ivoire (AOMNT-CI) was created by Prof. Abodo Jacko in 2016 following the dialogue organised by WHO and NCD Alliance on the role of non-state actors in supporting member states in national efforts to combat NCDs in the context of the 2030 development agenda. AOMNT-CI regularly raises awareness of the national public health consequences of NCDs and their risk factors, in particular premature deaths and the link between NCDs, poverty, and sustainable development. AOMNT-CI advocates to help countries meet the commitments made in 2011 and 2014 to fight NCDs, to reach the global targets on NCDs, and to:
-
Make every effort to ensure that NCDs are addressed in the discussions on the national planning processes of the SDGs and to integrate NCD measures into national action on the SDGs;
-
Reduce persistent inequalities between countries in the likelihood of dying prematurely from NCDs;
-
Advocate for the rights of vulnerable populations at the margins of society, including those with NCDs;
-
Enable people to be healthy and to live dignified, prosperous, and fulfilling lives;
-
Protecting current and future generations from exposure to the four risk factors of NCDs and the social, environmental, and economic determinants of health.
