NCDA General Assembly

The General Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of the NCD Alliance.

As defined by its Constitution, the NCD Alliance convenes every two years a meeting of the General Assembly which elects the NCD Alliance President-Elect and the Board of Directors.

Composed of NCDA members, the NCD Alliance General Assembly (GA) is the organisation's supreme decision-making body. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday 17th May 2023.

The GA meets every two years, and elects NCDA's President and Board of Directors. It can amend the constitution and receives and adopts the NCDA's reports and financial accounts.

There are four founding members of the NCDA: International Diabetes Federation, World Heart Federation, Union for International Cancer Control and The Union. Founding members can vote at the General Assembly and can nominate individuals for election as NCDA President and Board members. In addition, founding members are entitled to a permanent seat on the Board.

Full NCDA members are entitled to attend and vote at the GA and can nominate individuals for President and Board. Associate members can attend the GA as observers (but not vote) and can nominate individuals for the Board (not for President).

The first NCDA General Assembly was held on 22 May 2017, in Geneva.

Board of Directors

The President and NCDA Board of Directors provide governance, leadership and strategic direction to NCDA and all its activities, steering the growth and safeguarding the reputation and success of the organisation.

The Board is composed of 14 voting members, including the President who assumes the Chair of the Board of Directors and the President-Elect who is an ex-officio member of the Board for two years preceding his or her term as President.

Current Board of Directors

The Board of Directors, elected in May 2021 by the General Assembly, will serve until May 2023.

2023-2025 term

In 2023, the General Assembly meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday 17th May 2023 (the week prior to the World Health Assembly), where the NCDA President-Elect and Board of Directors for the term 2023-2025 will be elected by NCDA's membership. The provisional agenda for the virtual meeting is now available.
