2022 Act On NCDs Campaign Fuel Awards – Activity Plan Form

The 2022 Global Week for Action on NCDs from 5-11 September is coordinated by the NCD Alliance, held under the unifying Act On NCDs campaign banner.

Established in 2018, and continuing in the spirit of the first campaign tagline Our Health. Our Right. Right Now., the Global Week for Action catalyses activity among the NCD movement everywhere to celebrate successes, mobilise around solutions, and take and demand action.

In 2022, the campaign will push for progress with a focus on the NCD Investment gap, demanding action to address the urgent need for increased NCD financing to prevent and treat NCDs and build resilient health systems that leave no one behind. Find out more about the 2022 campaign theme and some opportunities for civil society to bridge this gap.

In addition to digital and media campaigns, we encourage the NCD community to lead and engage in events and activities that can include walks, fun runs, meetings, friendly sport events, media and social media campaigns, workplace health promotion initiatives, and creative competitions. NCDA's Guides for Events and Activities around the Global Week for Action at www.actonncds.org may be helpful. In planning, organisers should be mindful of local government guidance and regulations in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

National and regional NCD alliances that are full members of NCDA are encouraged to submit their events and activities to be eligible for the Global Week for Action Act on NCDs Campaign Fuel Awards.

The Act on NCDs Campaign Fuel Awards will reward innovative activities of 10 alliances who meaningfully involve people living with NCDs and leverage the full potential of the Global Week for Action on NCDs around the 2022 theme of NCD Investment, offering 10 awards of $3,000 USD each.

In order for alliance's events and activities to be eligible for an Award, the national or regional alliance must be a full member of NCD Alliance and must:

  • Meaningfully involve people living with NCDs in planning and implementation of activities;
  • Include elements relating to the NCD Investment theme (this can include supporting or leveraging existing activities you are already undertaking relating to NCD Financing, Universal Health Coverage, health system strengthening and COVID-19 advocacy). Special consideration will be given to the submission that best incorporates the theme of Investment in NCDs and the most creative submission in making an impact on the finance sector;
  • Hold activities (or substantially promote them) during the Week for Action (5-11 September 2022);
  • Register an 'activity plan' before end of 2nd September 2022 on NCDA’s website (see form below)
  • Add activity details to the www.actonncds.org campaign website by 2nd September 2022 to be put on the Map of Impact;
  • Report back to NCDA through a form on the NCDA website by 23rd September 2022 (reporting form link will be shared with eligible alliances in September).
  • Not have current active NCDA grants (or in granting stage) totalling 40,000 USD or over, such as through the Advocacy Institute or Our Views, Our Voices Initiative. This is to ensure the Fuel Awards extend their reach and inspire and activate a diverse group of national and regional alliances to participate.

Per the form below, alliances are also encouraged to meaningfully involve youth and other groups in their activities, and utilise media engagement and/or social media campaign strategies to strengthen their campaign activities.

If you are planning activities for the 2022 Global Week for Action and would like your alliance to be eligible for these Awards, but you are not a full member alliance yet, please submit your membership application HERE by 2nd September.

Activities submitted for consideration will be subject to the eligibility requirements outlined above and eligible alliance activities will be judged by an independently appointed panel according to selection criteria and weighted/scoring. Detailed information on the Awards' judging criteria will be shared with alliances in August 2022. Judging is scheduled to take place in October 2022, with announcement of winners anticipated in October or November 2022.

The 2022 Act on NCDs Campaign Fuel Awards are possible thanks to NCD Alliance’s partnership with Access Accelerated.
