Between May and June 2021, NCD Alliance will collaborate with national/regional NCD alliances and their networks of people living with NCDs to convene a series of regional Our Views, Our Voices meetings in various WHO regions (Africa, Americas, Eastern Mediterranean, South-East Asia and Western Pacific). These meetings will offer a platform for regional advocacy coordination to promote meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs and inform efforts to build the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs.
Objectives of the Our Views, Our Voices regional meetings
The Our Views, Our Voices regional meetings will be co-hosted by NCD Alliance and a co-host national/regional NCD alliance in each region. The meetings will share regional perspectives on the meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs and how it can be promoted to ensure progress and action on NCDs. The objectives of the meetings are to
-
Offer a civil society and people living with NCDs perspective on the shared understanding of meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs and how it can be applied across the NCD response.
-
Share regional examples of meaningful involvement, including from other health and development areas, highlighting good practice and lessons learned.
-
Discuss common barriers to meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs in the regional and national NCD response, strategies and support needed to implement meaningful involvement in organisational practices and the roles of different stakeholder groups.
-
Identify advocacy opportunities to promote and use the Global Charter on Meaningful Involvement of People Living with NCDs, accountability strategies and the role of civil society and people living with NCDs in monitoring commitments to the Charter.
NCDA members, including from national and regional NCD alliances, are invited to nominate up to four representatives, ensuring inclusion of people with lived experience of NCDs.
