78th United Nations General Assembly and High-Level Meeting on UHC

The 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA78) will take place at the UN headquarters in New York, USA, from 12 to 30 September 2023.

The General Assembly is the main policymaking and representative organ of the United Nations. It is composed of representatives of all Member States of the UN, which meet in sessions dedicated to discussions on current issues of critical importance to the international community.

The theme of this year's session will be "Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all". The first day of the High-Level General Debate will be Monday, 25 September 2023.

UNGA78 will convene three High-Level Meetings (HLMs) on health which will be an opportunity for world leaders to reaffirm their political commitments on pandemic prevention, preparedness and control, speeding up the progress on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and ending tuberculosis, respectively. More detailed information on the HLMs and the drafts of key political documents could be found here. The meetings can be viewed live on UN WebTV.
