Leading and Linking: Bold actions to tackle NCDs for Sustainable Development
Date and Time: 24 September 2024, 12:30-14:00 EST
Organised by the NCD Alliance (NCDA) and the Healthy Caribbean Coalition (HCC) on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly and the 2024 Summit of the Future, this high-level event will aim to convene world leaders to discuss why it’s Time to Lead and act on NCDs for sustainable development ahead of the 2025 UN HLM on NCDs.
In line with NCD Alliance’s Advocacy Priorities for this UN HLM and WHO’s Global NCD Compact 2020-2030, the conversation will focus on the need to break down silos between other global health and development priorities to ensure integrated NCD action; to mobilize investment in adequate, predictable, and sustained resources for NCDs; to accelerate national implementation of NCD strategies; deliver accountability for the implementation of NCD commitments; and to engage communities to respond to population needs.
The Third Annual Multistakeholder Gathering on Tackling Inequities in Noncommunicable Diseases
On the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly and the third Global NCD Compact Heads of State and Government annual meeting, and just 12 months ahead of the fourth UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs in 2025, NCDA and WHO will convene a multistakeholder event to focus on tackling inequities in NCDs through multistakeholder action.
We are pleased to invite you for a discussion where we will:
- Discuss and build consensus on the key inequities within NCD prevention and care globally and within countries, to focus advocacy efforts towards the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs in 2025.
- Explore the role that different stakeholders such as governments, multilateral organizations, people living with NCDs, relevant private sector, civil society and grassroots organisations can play in alleviating inequities in NCD prevention and care.
- Showcase best practice solutions, policies, programmes and partnerships that are making a difference to leave noone behind.
This event is made possible thanks to the support from Viatris.
