How can non-state actors support governments with their national NCD efforts and rally the world to reach NCD-related sustainable development goals?
Join NCD Alliance and the World Health Organization for a multistakeholder dialogue on the Global NCD Compact!
07 October 2022, 13:00-15:00 CEST, hybrid dialogue
The dialogue is organised as a follow-up to the First Annual Gathering of the Global Group of Heads of State and Government for the prevention and control of NCDs, which was held on 21 September at this year's UNGA 77.
At this meeting, twelve Heads of State and Governments, convened by the President of Ghana, the Prime Minister of Norway, WHO Director-General, and Michael. R. Bloomberg, WHO Special Ambassador for NCDs and Injuries, highlighted concrete commitments to the Global NCD Compact 2020-2030 that strengthen their strategic leadership to promote greater policy coherence and coordination through whole-of-government and health-in-all-policies approaches and by engaging stakeholders in an appropriate, coordinated, comprehensive and integrated bold action and response.
The NCDA and WHO co-hosted dialouge will showcase how non-state actors are, or can be, committed to support the Global Group of Heads of State and Government in their national efforts to achieve SDG 3.4 and accelerate action at national level through the NCD Global Compact.
The objectives of this dialouge are:
- To raise the priority of the role of diverse stakeholders in the prevention and control of NCDs within the national and international SDG response, including pandemic preparedness and response
- To deliberate on the Global NCD Compact 2020- 2030 and showcase alignment, coherence and collaborative actions on NCDs, UHC and the SDGs
- To discuss how to leverage the multistakeholder collective to inspire and support global and national action on NCDs, UHC and the SDG
