World Osteoporosis Day 2019

World Osteoporosis Day, marked on October 20 each year, unites global advocates for bone health and puts the spotlight on the immense human and socioeconomic burden caused by osteoporosis and related fragility fractures.

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) and its 248 members worldwide are marking World Osteoporosis Day on 20 October, an opportunity to educate and raise awareness of the need for early prevention of osteoporosis and its diagnosis and treatment among the public, patients and at-risk individuals, healthcare professionals, and policymakers worldwide.

More than 250 events and campaigns are carried out by national societies, clinics, and related organisations worldwide. This year, the 2nd edition of the IOF Compendium of Osteoporosis will be launched, a key policy document which outlines the regional and global burden of the disease as well as the solutions needed to stop the fragility fracture crisis. An online Osteoporosis Risk Check is now available in over 25 languages here.
