World Osteoporosis Day 2019

World Osteoporosis Day, marked on October 20 each year, unites global advocates for bone health and puts the spotlight on the immense human and socioeconomic burden caused by osteoporosis and related fragility fractures.  For the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), and its 240 national and regional member societies, World Osteoporosis Day is a special occasion to educate and raise awareness of the need for early prevention of osteoporosis and its diagnosis and treatment among the public, patients and at-risk individuals, healthcare professionals, and policymakers worldwide.

More than 250 events and campaigns are carried out by national societies, clinics, and related organizations worldwide. Among the many new resources and tools prepared for World Osteoporosis Day in recent years, the IOF Compendium of Osteoporosisis a key policy document which outlines the regional and global burden of the disease as well as the solutions needed to stop the fragility fracture crisis.
