HCC has launched an aggressive campaign to encourage Caribbean Heads of State and Government to attend the upcoming UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs in September.
The campaign included Open Letters and social media graphics targeting the region’s leaders using the NCDA Enough branding and calling on them to stand with civil society in September.
In lead up to the recently held Thirty-Ninth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Jamaica on 4-6 July, 2018, HCC shared an Open Letter to Heads with 6 key HLM3 asks in our weekly roundup.
CARICOM Heads of Government and State responded resoundingly in the Official Communique and committed to attend the UN HLM on NCDs. In a major success for civil society, the Heads also openly acknowledged and congratulated civil society actors working to prevent and control NCDs.
HCC congratulated Heads in a follow up Congratulatory Open Letter. We applaud our region’s leaders and will continue our advocacy efforts over the next two months to ensure they walk the talk all the way to New York in September.
