CSW61: Healthy women, healthy livelihoods

20th February 2017

The upcoming 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW61) from 13-24 March at UN Headquarters in New York will examine women's economic empowerment in the changing world of work. CSW61 provides an opportunity to reflect on the linkages between women’s health, NCDs, and livelihoods.

Women and children in low- and middle-income countries often bear a triple burden of ill-health related to pregnancy and childbirth, communicable diseases, and NCDs. Precious gains in maternal and child health could be lost due to the rapid rise of NCDs worldwide.

The NCD Alliance, together with the Permanent Mission of Denmark, Women Deliver, Management Sciences for Health, and Novo Nordisk, are convening a side event:

"Healthy Women, Healthy Livelihoods: Delivering an integrated NCD response for all"

that will take place on 15th of March at UN Headquarters in New York, from 13:15 - 14:30

This event will focus on the tangible results of successful delivery of joint treatment and care. It will also be an opportunity to advance the need to act in multisectoral partnerships.
