FCTC and NCDs: Read article by Katie Dain, NCDA Executive Director

Tobacco use is one of the major risk factors driving the global epidemic of noncommunicable diseases. NCD s are a major challenge to health and development in the 21st  century. They are the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, exacting a heavy and growing toll on the physical health and economic security of all countries, particularly low and middle-income countries (LMICs).

NCD s are undoubtedly on the global health and development agenda, and they are here to stay. With leading advocates and policy makers returning once again to Moscow, it would be timely for the COP to reinforce its commitment to supporting and aligning itself behind the NCD agenda.
