30th June 2020
30th June 2020
All sessions of the HLPF will be webcast.
The HLPF is an opportunity for governments to present their voluntary national reviews (VNRs), describing their progress, challenges and lessons learned in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This year, 47 countries will present their VNRs virtually, 26 of which are presenting for the first time.
During the two weeks, thematic discussions also take place, focusing on different elements of the SDGs. This year, there will be a focus on the COVID-19 pandemic and how, with just ten years until the 2030 deadline, the international community can work to respond to the pandemic in such a way that maintains momentum towards achieving the SDGs.
The HLPF includes a three-day ministerial segment, which will take place from 14-16 July. At its conclusion, Member States will adopt a Ministerial Declaration and the President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will prepare a summary of the discussions.
