NCDs affect women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) at alarming rates, with often disproportionately poor health outcomes. Without specific attention to the needs of women, children and adolescents, the impact of NCDs threatens to unravel the fragile health gains made over the past twenty years and undermine future efforts to ensure gender equity and healthy lives for all.
NCD Alliance and the
Taskforce on Women and NCDs have published an
infographic highlighting the burden of disease for women and children, the links between NCDs and RMNCAH (Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health) and opportunities for integrated care across the life course, and a Call to Action for governments to take concerted action to address NCDs and RMNCAH through gender- and evidence-based, integrated, equitable programmes.
