The NCD Café at the 2016 World Cancer Congress opened on Tuesday with a session on shared risk factors – panelists discussed common strategies and challenges including frameworks to support government accountability, industry interference, and legal knowledge.
This was followed by a discussion on NCDs and financing, spanning the rationale for a global investment framework for NCDs, divestment from tobacco, and the Mexican sugar tax.
Wednesday featured solutions for addressing NCDs in women and other vulnerable populations, and effectively collaborating with people living with NCDs.
The programme ends today with a session on mHealth as an innovative tool to address NCD prevention and control, and the need to build sustainable health systems to provide integrated care for NCD co-morbidities.
