The Global Health and Foreign Policy resolution on the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) was unanimously agreed.
Few countries specified the importance of UHC for the prevention and control of NCDs. The USA specifically mentioned strong support for equal access to care based on the principles of Affordable Care Act and challlenges related to access to medicines.
Future steps include a report from the UN Secretary-General to be presented in the 68th General Assembly (September 2013-September 2014) on national experiences in implementing UHC and on the possibility of holding a future UN High-Level Meeting on UHC.
