NCD Alliance event at #UNGA71: leveraging solutions to improve access to healthcare for people living with NCDs

10th September 2016

This side event, held in the margins of the 2016 UN General Assembly, will examine the different dimensions of access to healthcare for NCDs in the context of health systems strengthening, including case studies exemplifying structural gaps and associated barriers.

It will explore lessons learnt towards scaling-up holistic solutions to improving access to and availability of NCD medicines, technologies and services, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

It will also raise awareness of the need for increased domestic resource mobilisation, which was outlined in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda adopted at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in July 2015, and the implementation of strong UHC frameworks to support progress on NCDs.
