NCDA Thematic Webinar: Access to PHC for People Living With Multiple NCDs - Challenges and Opportunities

Join the discussion on Thursday, 30th July 2020, from 3.00 pm – 4.30 pm CEST (9:00 am – 10:30 am EDT / 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm IST/ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm ICT)

The number of people worldwide who live with more than one chronic disease or condition is striking. 5% of the global population is estimated to live with so-called multimorbidity. However this is likely a woeful underestimation of the real impact given mental health, endocrine, skin, renal and gastroenterological conditions, which are known to represent up to 55% of NCD morbidity worldwide, were not included in the analysis. National and global discussions on multimorbidity have become even more urgent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through this thematic webinar, connect with world renowned speakers to discuss the latest data, developments and opportunities to address multimorbidity from a global perspective, learn about the first-hand experience of living with multiple NCDs and engage with strategic stakeholders active in NCD advocacy, prevention and provision of care from regional and country levels.

The conversation will reinforce primary health care’s (PHC) strategic positioning as the vital cog in provision of people-centred health care as well as the need to leverage existing care, social support and coordination mechanisms to meet the need.

Speakers include:

  • Bruno Helman, Our Views, Our Voices Global Advisory Committee Member, Brazil
  • Estefania Palomino, Program Officer, The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust
  • Stephen MacMahon, Principal Director, The George Institute for Global Health and Chair of the Academy of Medical Sciences ‘Multimorbidity: a priority for global health research’ working group
