Access our Medicine campaign reaches 100,000 supporters

08th April 2015

Access Our Medicine has collected more than 100,000 signatures for their Declaration for Affordable Medicine! They are now on target to reach over 30 million people.

From April 7th - May 5th, they will be promoting Access Our Medicine’s Thunderclap on social media. Once you join the Thunderclap, the application will auto-schedule a Facebook post and tweet so that everyone’s messages go out simultaneously on May 6th.

The Access Our Medicine Initiative is a project of Tides Canada Initiatives Society supported by the Mindset Foundation. It was developed to raise public awareness and engagement in the global problem of access to medicine.

The costs of medicine are rising. Of the 12 new cancer drugs approved last year in the US, 11 of them cost over $100,000. Millions of Canadians skip doses because they can’t afford the costs. One in three Americans has trouble paying for food, medication or both. Three-quarters of women with breast cancer in India can’t afford the medicine they need.
