The Norwegian Cancer Society has launched a global campaign to raise awareness among the cancer community of the devastating effects of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) for cancer patients.
"According to World Health Organisation (WHO), AMR is of the greatest challenges our generation face. Antimicrobial resistance and its devastating consequences also for cancer treatment have attracted far too little attention from the cancer community", said Anne Lise Ryel, Secretary General of the Norwegian Cancer Society.
"We should indeed care and take responsibility: If we do nothing, we risk having to witness that important progress made in cancer treatment –thanks to the joint efforts from governments, civil society, research institutions and private sector - can be set back decades, while the incidence of cancer cases will continue to rise in the years to come", saidAnne Lise Ryel.
The global campaign addresses the cancer community to make a difference for everyone affected by antimicrobial resistance.
