In November 2012, we launched an e-consultation on the post-2015 development for our network of members, as it relates to health in general and NCDs specifically.
The purpose of this e-consultation was to begin to develop a common position on our asks for NCD prevention, treatment, and care, including “must-haves” for health and NCDs, in the post-2015 framework.
Background
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), established in 2000 and due to expire at the end of 2015, are eight international goals set to improve different areas of development in low- and middle-income countries. As the expiry date for the MDGs draws nearer, the United Nations has launched a consultation process to define the content and structure of future development goals, including goal(s) related to health. The process aims to review the impact of the current MDGs - determining what worked and didn’t work - and define the priorities and structure for the next generation of development goals.

Outcome
An analysis of the findings of the e-consultation, released at the end of November 2012, is available here.
The feedback from this consultation is informing NCD Alliance advocacy materials on the positioning of NCDs in the post-2015 development agenda. It also informed a submission to WHO in response to their call for papers on the role and position of health in the post-2015 agenda.
