American Heart Association
The American Heart Association (AHA) mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. That single purpose drives all we do. The need for our work is beyond question.
Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, the AHA is now one of the world’s oldest and largest voluntary organizations dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke and includes more than 30 million volunteers and supporters. Since 1949 the AHA has funded $3.5 billion dollars in research that has made great strides in heart and stroke science. The AHA provides science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals to help them deliver quality care to their patients and delivers CPR and advanced lifesaving training courses through a network of more than 4,000 training centers in 80 countries around the world. AHA fights for stronger public health policies and advocates for changes to protect and improve the health of our communities.
