Driving change for a healthier future
We lead global advocacy to ensure that governments not only commit to preventing and controlling NCDs, but also turn those commitments into tangible, life-saving actions.
We tackle systemic gaps by mobilising global leadership, fostering multisectoral collaboration, and promoting accountability for effective policy implementation.
Through strong political leadership, accelerated national action on proven interventions, and robust accountability mechanisms, we aim to keep NCDs firmly on the global health agenda through 2030 and beyond.
The case for accelerated action on NCDs
NCDs take a human toll that is unacceptable, increasing, and inequitable. The sheer scale of this largely preventable burden is reason enough for urgent action, but it is further compounded by the socioeconomic disparities which NCDs drive and deepen. NCDs are inextricable from other global priorities, like ending poverty, women’s rights and advancement, and the climate crisis.
We secure stronger political commitments and accountability for NCDs
Care and integration — Transforming health systems for Universal Health Coverage
- Promoting the integration of NCD care within Universal Health Coverage (UHC), including services for HIV/AIDS and maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH).
- Advocating for strengthened care in humanitarian settings and emergency preparedness (PPPR) to ensure continuous NCD care during crises.
- Supporting country-led reforms and investment cases, inspired by proven successes such as Tanzania’s Universal Health Insurance Bill.
Shared Agenda for Sustainable Development
- Ensuring NCDs are integrated across sustainable development agendas, emphasizing health as a critical driver for achieving the SDGs.
- Participating actively in the Summit of the Future processes to position NCDs prominently in global development discussions post-2030.
- Highlighting the interconnectedness of NCDs with environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation, and socioeconomic equity.
The road to the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs
In the lead-up to the HLM4 we aim to drive political action through three key pillars: advocacy, mobilisation, and convening.
We are actively contributing to the HLM4 process to influence outcomes and ensure strong political commitments. At the same time, we have inputted into other critical global processes—including meetings on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), humanitarian settings, the UN HLM on Universal Health Coverage, and the second Global Financing Dialogue—to keep NCDs central to broader health and development agendas.
