Social Participation Works: Engaging those left behind to drive UHC (NCDA Side Event)
Engaging communities and leaving no-one behind is central to achieving the transformative promises of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Saving lives, promoting equity and supporting COVID-19 recovery (NCDA Side Event)
Public health has long been chronically underfunded and insufficiently prioritized, but the COVID-19 pandemic has accentuated a crisis that has been decades in the making: Noncommunicable diseases. Each year noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are responsible for 71% of global deaths, with 15 million deaths among people between the ages of 30 and 69. This event will seek to explore economic instruments with proven impacts on NCDs and health inequalities and discuss how these policies can serve goals to protect health, raise revenue and address inequity.
Panellists will also explore proven and innovative strategies to accelerate national, regional and global action on addressing NCD risk factors.
Co-hosted by Vital Strategies and NCD Alliance.
