ICN2: Rome Declaration on Nutrition and the Framework for Action adopted today

19th November 2014

The Rome Declaration on Nutrition and the Framework for Action on Nutrition have been adopted today at the Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2), by Ministers from 193 countries.

The Declaration commits countries to eradicate hunger and prevent all forms of malnutrition worldwide – particularly undernutrition in children, anaemia in women and children, among other micronutrient deficiencies – as well as reverse the trend in obesity.

The meeting was preceded by a Civil Society Pre-Conference on 17-18 November, bringing together over 150 representatives of civil society organisations and social movements working on nutrition from around the world.

The NCD Alliance and World Cancer Research Fund International have produced a Call to Member States on the ICN2, and updated our joint policy brief on “The link between food, nutrition, diet and non-communicable diseases.”
