The Egyptian NCD alliance is bridging the accountability gap for progress on NCDs

During the third Global Week for Action on NCDs the Egyptian NCD Alliance (EgNCDA) organised a webinar to officially launch the Beta NCD Programme, an education programme on NCDs designed to benefits primary care physicians.
The webinar aimed to bridge the accountability gap for progress on NCDs and included eminent delegates from global, regional & local organizations.

Dr. Cristina Parsons Perez, Capacity building Director of NCDA presented the global landscape and burden of NCDs. Her remarks were complemented by the presentations from Dr. Ibtihal Fadhil, President of the Eastern Mediterranean NCD Alliance (EM-NCDA), and Dr. Shaker, Upjohn Chief Medical Officer for Emerging Markets on the burden of NCDs in Low- and Middle-income settings. Finally, Dr. Maha El Rabbat, former Egypt Health Minister and Executive Director of Middle East North Africa Health Policy Forum presented a review on COVID-19 and NCDs.
Prof Adel El Sayed, President of the EgNCDA, presented the Beta NCD program a curriculum designed with the help of forty consultants that includes modules covering diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health. With the support of the Beta NCD program, the EgNCDA aims to leverage the digital transformation in healthcare and education. This content will be disseminated to an estimated 1,000 doctors who support primary care services in Egypt.
