Launched on Human Rights Day, Waiting for Health Project is a new photo series that shares the faces and stories of some of the millions of people still waiting for health around the world.

Images from 12 photographers in 12 countries document the experiences of people waiting for health care – from a woman in Guinea who couldn’t afford the treatment that could have saved her husband’s life, to a mother anxiously awaiting a blood transfusion for her baby sick with cerebral malaria, to families affected by the earthquake in Nepal waiting in line for lifesaving care.

The launch of the photo series coincides with Universal Health Coverage Day as well. On 12 December 2015 a global coalition will call for greater action on delivering universal health coverage. UHC can provide a powerful vehicle to accelerate progress on NCD outcomes, inequalities and socio-economic impact. The NCD Alliance joins over 600 global partners as a supporter of UHC Day.
