Universal Health Coverage (UHC) means that all individuals and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardship. Achieving UHC is one of the targets the nations of the world set when adopting the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015.
This September 2019, the United Nations will be convening the first High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage (UN HLM on UHC). People living with, and affected by, NCDs have long-term experience of engaging with national health systems, often incurring catastrophic health expenditure.
Although there is no ‘one size fits all’ formula for UHC or primary health care, the valuable insights and opinions of people living with NCDs, including those of care partners, are vital in creating national UHC benefit packages that are truly universal and meet the needs of people.
In parallel to the Our Views, Our Voices online consultation, we have launched another survery addressed to the broader NCD community to understand their priorities when it comes to UHC.
We invite you to complete this online survey. You may preview the survey, to facilitate consultation and help formulate your responses. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete, once you have developed your responses.
The results of both consultations will feed into broader advocacy efforts being conducted by UHC2030 and the civil society engagement mechanism, which are leading advocacy for the HLM on UHC. NCDA’s approach is to highlight specific areas in which people living with NCDs and the broader NCD community can bring added value to the discussion ahead of the UN HLM on UHC.
Deadline to complete both surveys is Friday 29 March.
