On 9-10 July the WHO South East Asia Regional Office (WHO SEARO) and the NCD Alliance hosted the first-ever regional meeting for NCD civil society, bringing together 95 participants from 9 of the 11 SEAR countries.

Combined comments submitted by members of the Health in Post-­2015 NGO Coalition and other civil society organizations on the final draft of the outcome document for the UN Summit to adopt the Post‐2015 Development Agenda.

The major outcome of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD3), which concluded yesterday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was the adoption of an outcome document containing a series of measures to renew and enhance global commitments for financing sustainable development.

What are the most effective means of sustainable financing for prevention and control of NCDs? This question set the tone for the side event held last Tuesday 14 July, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the margins of the Third International Conference of Financing for Development (FFD3). 

We are pleased to announce the launch of the WHO SEARO and NCD Alliance mapping of civil society organisations working to prevent and control NCDs in the South East Asia Region (SEAR).

Against the backdrop of the Third International Conference of Financing for Development (FfD3) in Addis Ababa, this side event will examine means of sustainable financing for prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), as part of efforts to strengthen national health systems.

Today just over a billion people, or approximately 15 per cent of the global population, experience a form of disability. These can be short- or long-term impairments and often place a person at a disadvantage for full, equitable participation in society.

Civil society from South-East Asian countries will meet on 9-10 July in New Delhi to share best practices and strengthen collaboration for NCD prevention and control at the national and regional levels.

Can the sustainable development goals reduce the burden of nutrition-related non-communicable diseases without truly addressing major food system reforms?
