Description

On 25 September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/70/1, containing the document “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The 2030 Agenda is a plan of action for people, the planet, prosperity, peace and partnership, which all countries and stakeholders, acting in collaboration, will implement.

The Sustainable Development Goals have been in force since 1 January 2016 and will guide policy development and implementation over the next 15 years. This document builds on the report of the WHO Secretariat entitled “Health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” - submitted to the Sixty-ninth World Health Assembly as document A69/15 - global resolutions related to Health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including resolution WHA69.11, and the midterm progress report on Health 2020 implementation 2012–2016.

It focuses on the WHO European Region and highlights key opportunities for implementing the 2030 Agenda building on Health 2020. This document is accompanied by a draft resolution that defines actions to be taken by Member States and by the WHO Regional Director for Europe.
