Eli Lilly and Company
The Lilly NCD Partnership develops and tests new evidence-based models of diabetes in resource-poor communities.
Since 2012, the Lilly NCD Partnership has involved collabrations with 7 leading health organizations in Brazil, India, Mexico, and South Africa - 4 countries with high rates of diabetes, and NCDs in general. Together we are leveraging collective expertise and capabilities to develop and evaluate approaches that strengthen early detection and timely treatment of diabetes - with the goal of sustainably improving patient and health systems outcomes while possibly lowering costs. Evidence shows that investments in early intervention efforts can improve health outcomes and reduce the need for more expensive treatment later, typically at far greater cost to families, communities, and society. The Lilly NCD Partnership focuses on improving diabetes care in targeted communities by · Strengthening diabetes care capabilities at primary care health clinics, · Improving system efficiencies so that more people with diabetes can receive effective care, · Increasing appropriate use and medication compliance to improve patient outcomes, · Supporting replication of successful efforts in similar clinical environments.
