NCD Alliance is delighted to announce that Chikhulupiliro Stanley Ng’ombe, a lived experience advocate from Malawi and a member of the Our Views, Our Voices Global Advisory Committee, is joining the NCD Alliance Board of Directors as an observer.

In preparation for the 4th High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the Prevention and Control of NCDs (4HLM on NCDs) in September 2025, the WHO Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs (GCM/NCD) is tapping into the experiences of people living with NCDs and launching the WHO Symposium on Meaningful Engagement of people living with NCDs, mental health, and neurological conditions.

During 2023, the NCD Alliance (NCDA) membership base remained strong, with over 400 members across 60 countries including over 120 full and associate members. NCDA member organisations consist of non-governmental organisations, patient groups, academia and national/regional NCD alliances, all joining together to form a diverse civil society movement united to act on NCDs.

The current World Cancer Day theme is 'Close the care gap', now in its third and final year. This campaign focuses on addressing issues of equity in cancer care, rallying individuals, organisations, and governments alike to address the disparities that hinder access to essential cancer services for many people, due to age, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic situation or geographical location. Even when these services are available, many individuals encounter barriers in obtaining the care they require.
