100 million into poverty yearly

Accelerating progress towards universal health coverage (UHC) is essential to ensuring the health and wellbeing of all people. Roughly 100 million people are pushed into poverty every year as a result of out-of-pocket payments for health care, a large proportion of which are due to NCDs.

AHAIC2019 will be key on new ideas and home-grown solutions to the continent’s most pressing health challenges, with a focus on achieving UHC in Africa by 2030. The event will bring together diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, civil society, technical experts, innovators, the private sector, thought leaders, scientists and youth.

The NCD Café will be found at the NCD Alliance’s booth located in the Exhibition Hall of the Kigali Convention Centre.
