What would a more dementia friendly world look like?

13th March 2015

Dementia Friendly Communities (DFCs): New domains and global examples

What would a more dementia friendly world look like? This new booklet from Alzheimer’s Disease International explores how Dementia Friendly Communities (DFCs) are making a difference all around the globe.

The publication also calls for more DFC initiatives in low and middle income countries, areas which will account for over 71% of dementia’s global prevalence by 2050.

The booklet was launched today in conjunction with the first World Health Organisation (WHO) Ministerial Conference on Global Action Against Dementia, to be held in Geneva from 16-17 March 2015. Over the two days, ministers from around the world, as well as experts from the research, clinical and NGO communities, will come together for the first time to discuss the global problems posed by dementia.
