NCDA welcomes the renewal of NCD Alliance Japan

12th November 2019

The renewal of NCD Alliance Japan will be celebrated at a global event organised by the Health and Global Policy Institute in Tokyo, Japan, and attended by NCDA's CEO Katie Dain.

The Tokyo-based Health and Global Policy Institute will host the Global Forum commemorating the renewal of NCD Alliance Japan on 13 November 2019, with a special address by NCDA's CEO Katie Dain highlighting the importance of meaningfully involving people living with NCDs in the global NCD response.

NCD Alliance Japan has served since 2013 as Japan’s point-of-contact for the NCD Alliance. It provides a level playing field for multi-stakeholder discussion, disseminating both at home and abroad the vital role played by civil society in the fight against NCDs.

The Global Forum will introduce both the aim of NCD Alliance Japan as well as global, collaborative NCD civil society initiatives. A panel discussion will help identify shared challenges from personal stories of lived experience as well as patient organisation activities and to consider how each stakeholder, including people living with or affected by NCDs, can drive social change.

Building on the Global Forum's discussion, Katie Dain will then give a seminar on 14 November focusing on the importance of the role of civil society in NCD prevention and control.
