The 2024 WHO Regional Committee Meetings (RCMs) happening from August to October this year, provided a crucial stage for NCD advocacy, bringing together alliances across regions to champion noncommunicable disease (NCD) priorities. These meetings are not just technical discussions — they are platforms for regional advocacy, providing an entry point for civil society advocates to engage with key stakeholders, strengthen partnerships, gather intelligence and strategically influence health agendas ahead of the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting (HLM) on NCDs.

The NCD Alliance is preparing for its next General Assembly in May 2025, which will be held virtually. A first step in this process is to establish the Nominations Committee which is responsible for implementing the nominations process, including reviewing nominations for Board of Directors and President-Elect and developing a short-list that will be put forward to NCDA members at the General Assembly to vote on. We seek expressions of interest from representatives of a Founding or Full Members, to be a member of the Nominations Committee in 2025.
Building on the successes and lessons from previous years, we have been able to achieve the greatest level of engagement in the history of the Global Week for Action on NCDs Campaign, midpoint impact report shows.
With heavy hearts, the NCD Alliance shares the sad and tragic news that Charity Muturi, an NCD advocate from Kenya, passed away suddenly on 6 November.
