Bridging the Gap

Transforming global rhetoric on NCDs into national and local action

The third Global NCD Alliance Forum is scheduled for 9-11 February 2020, in Sharjah, UAE. It will provide a prime opportunity to unite and mobilise NCD civil society to monitor governments’ progress and advocate for action to implement global pledges five years ahead of the next UN HLM and the 2025 date for globally agreed NCD targets.

The third Global NCD Alliance Forum provides a prime opportunity to unite and mobilise NCD civil society to monitor governments’ progress and advocate for action to implement global pledges to meet NCD targets locally and nationally in 2025 and 2030.

The Forum will bring together representatives from NCD civil society from across the world, building links with multilaterals, international NGOs, select government representatives and NCD experts.

It will be an interactive forum, providing a safe space for knowledge exchange, sharing good practices, and capacity building for NCD advocacy.

The Global NCD Alliance Forum 2020 will galvanise civil society around monitoring national progress and accelerating action, providing tools and offering Forum delegates the chance to acquire knowledge and specialised skills in NCD advocacy.

The third Forum will present the 2nd edition of the Sharjah Awards, recognising those alliances working on monitoring progress and advocating for action, as committed to in the Sharjah Declaration.

The Forum will produce the 2020 NCD Civil Society Atlas, linking to the Forum theme of Bridging the Gap as a global collection of case studies of NCD national and regional alliances to encourage sharing of good practices.

In addition, the Forum will launch a research paper on Bridging the Gap that can be used as an advocacy tool and attract media attention.

Forum attendance is by invitation only.
