The 16th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) will be held from 17 to 21 March 2015 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This is the world's largest gathering of tobacco control advocates, policy makers, researchers, public health and clinical experts.

Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, World Health Organisation Director. General Dr Margaret Chan, and Michael R Bloomberg will be among the speakers to address delegates to the WCTOH.

12 March is World Kidney Day. The Theme for 2015 is "Kidney Health For All". Between 8-10% of the global adult population have some form of kidney damage, and every year millions die prematurely of complications related to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Factors which can lead to an increased risk of CKD include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, smoking and obesity.

8 March is International Women's Day!

International Women's Day is the time to celebrate and reflect on the contributions that women make, and take stock of what remains to be done to advance the status of women worldwide and achieve gender equality.

Theme for 2015: MAKE IT HAPPENre

NCDs are the leading cause of death in women, killing a staggering 14 million women globally each year - increasingly impacting on women in developing countries, and during the prime of their lives.

In marking International Women’s Day on March 8, Management Sciences for Health (MSH), the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), and the NCD Alliance  are calling for recognition of gestational diabetes as a priority maternal and newborn health issue, especially in sub-Saharan Africa where a woman’s lifetime risk of dying during pregnancy or childbirth is 1 in 38, compared to 1 in 3,700 in the developed word.
