This briefing note provides background and key advocacy messages on the NCD Alliance’s main priorities for the upcoming WHO Executive Board, including accountability for commitments made in the 2011 UN Political Declaration and 2014 Outcome Document, the Global Coordination Mechanism for NCDs, the 2nd International Conference on Nutrition, and WHO Framework of engagement with non-state actors.

"We have global NCD commitments, targets and a plan in place. Now we need to focus our attention on how governments can be held accountable for the commitments made, and what role non-state actors have in this endeavour", said Katie Dain, Executive Director of the NCD Alliance speaking yesterday at the launch of the WHO Global Status Report on NCDs.

The interactive Map of Events aims to feature all of the events, activities and actions that will be taking place to mark World Cancer Day, 4th February 2015.

The World Health Organization this morning launched the Global Status Report on NCDs in Geneva. 

The Report assesses progress made on each of the nine targets set out in the Global NCD Action Plan, as well as including two chapers dedicated to development and implementation of national multisectoral action plans to attain national targets, and prescribed outstanding actions to attain the targets. The Reportprovides information on "best buys" and also case studies of success in various areas at the national level.

The World Health Organization (WHO) will launch tomorrow the 'Global Status Report on NCDs 2014'. It is the second in a triennial series tracking worldwide progress on prevention and control of NCDs .

In preparation for the first intergovernmental negotiations on the Post-2015 development agenda, to be held from 19-21 January at UN Headquarters in NYC, a Civil Society Stakeholder Forum will be held on 16 January. 

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network  has launched a draft report on financing for sustainable development that will provide recommendations for the Financing for Development Conference to be held in Addis Abiba, Ethiopia from 13-16 July. 

MEETING INVITATION: Launch of the second WHO Global Status Report on NCDs

Taking place under the tagline ‘Not beyond us’, World Cancer Day 2015 (4th February 2015) will take a positive and proactive approach to the fight against cancer, highlighting that solutions do exist across the continuum of cancer, and that they are within our reach.

Following nominations by Member States in November 2014 of proposed members for the Working Groups of the WHO Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs (GCM/NCD), the proposed members have now been published.
